Hello there, I'm Eric Newcombe

I’m sure you would have guessed that by now seeing as you’re on my website. Nice to meet you! I was born and raised in London Ontario, but now live in Ottawa. I originally moving here to attend Carleton University but fell in love with the city and decided to stay.

Currently I work as a full stack developer for Instant Risk Coverage, a company I co-founded with my friend Jon. We came up with the idea for the company after realizing how big of a pain it could sometimes be to get insurance for events held in municipal space. That drive for problem solving is one of the biggest things which drew me into computer science. Being able to find, or be given, a problem and craft a solution through code is one of the most rewarding things I can think of. I’m sure many (if not almost all) people would not see it that way, but it works for me!

When I’m not behind my computer coding or doing schoolwork, I love to be in nature. I grew up through all levels of the Scouts Canada program achieving my Chief Scout Award in Scouts and becoming a Scouter in Training at 16 when I moved up to Venturers. Even today I’m still involved in Scouting, volunteering as a leader with the 137th Ottawa. It allows me to combine my passion of the outdoors, as well as giving back to a program which did so much for me in my youth.

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began I have also been trying out new hobbies, and trying to get out into nature more and away from the city. You can read more about my adventures in my blog posts, or check out my adventure Instagram account in the links below. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
